Depiction in the Pseudo-Seneca type, currently identified as a portrait of Aristophanes or Hesiod, pseudo-Seneca, male portrait, Roman sculpture in a toga, end of the 1st century BC previously dated 4th quarter of the 1st century BC, Latium, sculpture; weight 610 kg; height 183 cm; width 70 cm; depth 55 cm; base width 62.5 cm; base depth 47 cm., A full-length pale beige marble statue of a standing robed male figure against a dark gray background, showing a bearded head with short hair and a contemplative facial expression, a draped cloak wrapped over one shoulder and across the chest with carved folds, one hand holding the edge of the cloak near the chest and the other hand extended slightly forward holding a cylindrical scroll, the long garment falling in deep vertical folds over the legs to reveal sandal-clad feet on a rectangular base, with subtle discoloration and veining in the stone.
