Cypriot gourd jug. A small vessel with a barrel-shaped gourd-shaped body, without a foot, with a spherical bottom. The center is marked with a small protruding point on both short sides. A single handle on the long side, mounted at the greatest bulge of the body and at the base of the neck, bent at a right angle. Quite long neck, strongly flaring, conical spout. Neck and handle slightly offset from the vessel axis; the handle is mounted at a slight angle, with a very clear trace of finger pressure on the right side where it is attached to the neck. Reddish-brown clay. Yellowish-brown engobe. Decoration in black-brown and matte red. The rim is decorated externally with a wide matte red band. The body is decorated on both sides with two groups of three concentric black-brown lines, of varying widths and spacing. In the groups on the shorter sides, the outer line is much wider than the others. Protruding points are marked in black-brown. Preservation condition: cracked and glued neck and handle. Cypro-Geometric Period III, Cyprus., An aged rounded ceramic vessel with a narrow neck and flared rim, featuring a single curved handle attached from the neck to the shoulder; the surface shows a weathered beige or tan base color with darker brown or black concentric circular bands and stripes decorating the body and rim, and small spots of discoloration and surface wear visible across the piece.
