Cypriot gourd jug, Excavations at Nea Paphos Cyprus — Cypriot pottery, Cypriot Bichrome Ware III. Small vessel with a barrel-shaped gourd-shaped body, without a foot, with a spherical bottom. On both shorter sides the center is marked with a small protruding point. A single ring-shaped handle on the longer side, mounted above half the height of the body and at the base of the neck, curved downwards. Quite long neck, strongly flaring, conical spout. Yellow clay with yellow-brownish engobe. Decoration in black-brown and matte red: the spout externally has a wide matte red band beneath a narrower black band; the belly on both sides has two groups of three concentric black-and-brown lines of varying widths and spacing, with the outer line much wider in the groups on the shorter sides. Protruding points are marked in black-and-brown. Dated 850–700 BC, Cyprus, vessel., A roughly egg-shaped object with a pointed top and a rounded bottom sits against a plain light gray background; the object has a beige base color with several horizontal dark brown bands encircling it, and there are areas of darker brown near the top and bottom forming slightly wider bands, along with a few small spots and scratches on the surface showing lighter and darker beige tones.
