Cypriot gourd jug, Excavations at Nea Paphos Cyprus. Cypriot pottery, Cypriot Bichrome Ware III. Small vessel with a barrel-shaped gourd-shaped body, without a foot, with a spherical bottom. On both shorter sides the center is marked with a small protruding point. A single ring-shaped handle on the longer side, mounted above half the height of the body and at the base of the neck, curved downwards. Quite long neck, strongly flaring, conical spout. Yellow clay with yellow-brownish engobe. Decoration in black-brown and matte red: the spout externally has a wide matte red band beneath a narrower black band; the belly on both sides has two groups of three concentric black-and-brown lines of varying widths and spacing, with the outer line in the groups on the shorter sides much wider than the others. Protruding points are marked in black-and-brown. Date: 850–700 BC. Cyprus, vessel., A rounded ceramic vessel with a single curved handle and a flared neck is centered against a plain light gray background; the vessel is primarily beige with darker brown painted areas including concentric circular bands on the body and a brown band near the rim, and the surface shows signs of wear and small chips.
