Fragment of a sarcophagus with a depiction of the Amazonomachy, unknown Roman workshop, 2nd quarter of the 3rd century, Roman Empire 27 BC–476, sarcophagus; height 35 cm, width 31 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 13 kg, A carved pale stone relief of a reclining female figure with wavy, textured hair, a tilted head and closed eyes, showing a bare torso partially covered by draped cloth; the stone surface shows subtle variations in off-white, beige and light gray tones, with darker gray shadowing and some brownish discoloration in places, set against a neutral medium gray background.
