Shabti, Mummy-shaped figurine, funerary gift, standing on a base with back supported by a pillar/pilaster. Arms crossed on the chest with only the hands visible from under the shroud; right hand holds a hoe and left a pickaxe. A basket is slung on a string over the left shoulder on the back. Wears a three-part smooth wig; beard long, straight, and smooth. Large eyes, wide nose, grimacing mouth, very large ears. Inscribed inscription on the pilaster illegible. 332–30 BC; Late Period–Ptolemaic period, Egypt. Shabti; height 8.5 cm., A slender vertical carved figure in shades of brown and tan stands on a rectangular dark grayish base, shown in profile against a uniform gray background; the figure has a rounded head, facial features and a long draped form with subtle texture and weathered surface variations in beige and light brown, and the base has a rough, slightly pitted texture in dark gray with a small lighter patch where the figure meets the base.
