Ushabti - upper part of a figurine. Mummy-shaped figurine, funerary gift; head and torso fragment. Figurine resting on a pillar; arms crossed on the chest holding hoes in both hands. In the right hand, a twisted rope runs over the left shoulder to the back. Convex tools. A basket hangs on the back on a string; basket is engraved. On the head is a three-part smooth wig; long, wide, smooth beard. Large almond-shaped eyes, large ears; other facial details damaged. Inscription placed in a column on the pillar text illegible. 664–332 BC, Late Period, Egypt. Ushabti; height 3.5 cm., A small sculpted fragment showing the profile of a human head and upper torso, with a weathered surface and rough texture; the piece displays a predominant turquoise blue glaze or pigment on much of the visible surface, along with areas of beige and light brown where the underlying material is exposed and worn; the facial features including a nose, lips, and a recessed eye are visible in profile, and a headdress or hair-like form runs along the back of the head; the lower portion tapers into an unglazed block-like base with a sandy beige color, and there are patches of darker brown and speckled mineral encrustation scattered across the blue and beige surfaces; the background is a uniform gray.
