Winged scarab. Winged scarab with a realistically modeled torso, head, and legs. On the outstretched wings, imitating plumage, is an ornament consisting of a grid-covered field and two stripes covered with diagonal lines. The small oval base on which the scarab is placed has six holes for attachment to a mummy net. There are three similar holes on each wing. Due to the non-corresponding holes on the sides of the scarab and on the inner part of the wings, it can be assumed that they were not originally a single piece, but were fitted together later for antiquarian purposes. 664–332 BC Late Period, Egypt. Amulet scarab. Height 3.4 cm; width 12.5 cm., A horizontal decorative object with a central raised rounded element flanked by two wing-shaped panels, all showing a textured carved pattern of parallel ridges and grooves. The central piece has a ribbed vertical pattern and a scalloped edge where it meets the panels, and the panels each have a feather-like carved motif with a grid-like texture near their inner edges and small circular holes near the outer edges. The surface shows a weathered, aged appearance with visible pitting and irregularities. The visible colors include pale green, turquoise, beige, brown, and hints of darker green and off-white.
