Fragment of a shabti. Head of a shabti figurine with carefully rendered facial features, in a smooth wig, with a thin beard. Celadon glaze. Ptolemaic Period, 332–30 BC. El-Kantara place of discovery. Shabti; height 2.5 cm., A small sculpted head fragment with a rounded top and stylized facial features, showing a forehead, recessed eyes, a subtle nose, and a suggestion of a mouth and chin; the surface is worn and pitted with rough broken edges at the lower sides and bottom; the piece is predominantly a pale bluish-green with speckles of darker green and tiny brown spots, and there are areas of exposed beige or light tan material where the surface is chipped; the background is a uniform medium gray.
