Amulet — Anubis. Anubis is depicted as a striding man with the head of a dog Canidae. Arms hang at his sides, hands clenched. Torso broad at the shoulders and narrowed at the waist. He wears a pleated skirt with a loose belt, slightly lowered in the middle, reaching above the knees. A tripartite wig covers the head. A sort of mane is visible around the narrow, carefully modeled muzzle. Small, clumsily made ears are second-hand additions. The rear pillar reaches 2/3 of the figurine's height, with a drilled hole in its upper part. Amulet, ca. 1069–525 BC Third Intermediate Period–26th Dynasty. Egypt. Height 7.4 cm., A carved figurine of a standing anthropomorphic animal with a long snout and upright pointed ears, shown in profile facing right, with a ribbed headdress or mane that falls down the back; the figure has a slender torso and arms held close to the body, a pleated skirt, and a flat back support with a circular hole. The surface shows weathered and worn textures with a palette of beige, tan, light brown, darker brown, and small areas of reddish brown, and subtle variations of off-white and gray on a plain light gray background.
