Terracotta figurine of a woman, terracotta, female molded figurine, Greece, orange clay, surface covered with whitewash. Woman dressed in a short, pleated chiton girdled at the waist. Long, thick neck and disproportionately small head with an oval face. Hair combed upwards and tied in a bun, held in place by a headband tenia tied in a bow at the top of the head. The back of the figurine is unfinished. The figurine originally had separately attached arms and legs below the knees, as evidenced by a special recess and perforations for hooks. Condition: missing arms and legs, whitewash worn away. c. 400 BC, Greece, toy. Height 10.1 cm, width 3.5 cm., A weathered brown object with a rough, textured surface and an irregular rounded top that has a circular hole near its center, resting on a lighter brown base with mottled pale patches; the background is a uniform light gray.
