Terracotta figurine of a woman, terracotta, female molded figurine, Greece, orange clay, surface covered with whitewash. Woman dressed in a short, pleated chiton girdled at the waist. Long, thick neck and disproportionately small head with an oval face. Hair combed upwards and tied in a bun, held by a headband tenia tied in a bow at the top of the head. The back is unfinished. Originally had separately attached arms and legs below the knees, indicated by a recess and perforations for hooks. Condition: missing arms and legs, whitewash worn away. Circa 400 BC. Function: toy. Height 10.1 cm, width 3.5 cm., A vertically oriented image of a small worn statue of a standing female figure centered against a plain light gray background; the statue appears made of a weathered brownish-beige material with areas of lighter beige and off-white surface encrustation, showing a rounded head with stylized hair gathered and textured into a high coiffure, a simplified face with smooth, indistinct features, a slender neck leading to narrow shoulders and a fitted bodice that suggests the outline of a chest, and a long pleated skirt with vertical folds and surface erosion down to the base.
