Fragment of a stele with an inscription in Arabic, unknown creator/scribe, excavations, Islamic art, Arabic culture, inscriptions, Arabic inscriptions, Kufi script, Quran, Arabic language, Nubia, Nubian crafts. The surface of the block is smoothed; the inscription in Kufi contains a fragment of Quran 67:1. It is probably a funerary stele. 2nd half of the 11th–1st half of the 14th century. Sudan, Faras. Stele; height 32.0 cm, width 34.0 cm, depth 12.0 cm., A rectangular block of rough stone with an uneven, weathered surface sits centered against a smooth background; the stone shows shades of brown, tan, beige, gray, and hints of darker brown in crevices, with textured irregular edges and small pits on the top and sides.
