Fragment of a stele with an inscription in Arabic, /scribe, excavations, Islamic art, Arabic culture, inscriptions, Arabic inscriptions, Kufi script, Quran, Arabic language, Nubia, Nubian crafts. The surface of the block is smoothed; the inscription in Kufi script contains a fragment of Quran 67:1. It is probably a funerary stele. 2nd half of the 11th–1st half of the 14th century. Sudan, Faras. Stele; height 32.0 cm, width 34.0 cm, depth 12.0 cm., A rectangular block with rounded corners sits on a flat surface; the block appears textured and rough with irregular vertical grooves and small pits on its front face, and a flatter, slightly uneven top surface. The visible colors are shades of brown on the block, with a few small lighter spots, and a neutral gray background and surface.
