Fragment of a large plate or platter of Egyptian Red Slip Ware B type. Vessel made of Nile clay type B, compact with few admixtures and visible particles of golden mica. Fracture with a dark sandwich core red, red-brown, dark gray 2.5YR5/6–2.5YR4/4–5YR4/1–2.5YR4/4–2.5YR5/6. Surface covered with a matte engobe outer red-yellow, 5YR6/6; inner pink, 5YR7/4, with an additional red-black floral motif plant tendril painted on the interior. 6th–7th century, Tell Atrib; vessel. Height 12 cm, width 14 cm, thickness 8 mm., A broken shard of pottery with uneven, rough edges rests against a solid gray background; the shard shows a base color of light pinkish-beige with irregular patches of darker brown clay across its surface, and variations in tone where the surface appears worn and pitted, including a few smoother striated areas and a slightly thicker rim fragment along one edge.
