1978 - The World's First Test Tube Baby: At 23.47 Bst on July 1978 a unique baby was born in Britain-the result of a test tube fertilization. Louise Joy Brown, the 5 lb 12 oz daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Brown of Bristol, was delivered safely by caesarian section by Patrick Steptoe Esq. Frocs Frcog, Honorary Consultant Gynaecologist at the Oldham General Hospital near Manchester.
