1978 - The World's First Test Tube Baby: At 23.47 Bst on July 1978 a unique baby was born in Britain-the result of a test tube fertilization. Louise Joy Brown, the 5 lb 12 oz daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Brown of Bristol, was delivered safely by caesarian section by Patrick Steptoe Esq. Frocs Frcog, Honorary Consultant Gynaecologist at the Oldham General Hospital near Manchester. He was assisted by Dr. John Webster MB ChB MRCOG, by Dr. Finlay Campbell, Anaesthetist Theatre, Sister Astel and Sister Marshall. Dr. Hilson Consultant Paediatricial.
