Ferdinand Cheval (1836-1924) working in his inspirational Le Palais idéal. Later known as Facteur Cheval, he was an ordinary French postman who spent thirty-three years of his life building Le Palais idéal (the "Ideal Palace") in Hauterives, in the Drôme department in southeastern France. The Palace is regarded as an extraordinary example of naïve art architecture, the decoration of which resembles aspects of Gaudí's Sagrada Família.
