Gangte (Gangtey) Goemba (temple) is located on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Phobjikha Valley which is famous for the black necked cranes which migrate annually. The valley is snowbound for part of the winter and during this time the monks transfer to Wangdue Phodrang.

The Goemba was founded in 1613 and has recently been renovated.
