Vintage photo circa 1920s of French statesman Aristide Briand (1862 - 1932) - Prime Minister of France on several occasions between 1909 and 1929. Briand, who also held a string of ministerial posts between 1906 and 1932, negotiated the Locarno Pact in 1925 which sought to promote international reconciliation in the aftermath of WW1 and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1926 along with Gustav Stresemann of Germany. Briand also championed the League of Nations and negotiated the Pact of Paris in 1928 (also known as the Kellogg-Briand Pact). Photo by Bain News Service.
