Louis Armstrong also known as Satchmo was the worlds greatest trumpeter and singer before he died on 6 July 1971. He was born on 4 Aug. 1901 but always insisted his birthday was on 4 July. Born in the poorest part of New Orleans he could read and write music after five years.he began his career in 1923 and recorded the hot five in 1925 and the hot seven in 1927. His pianist was Lil Hardin whom he married and began touring Europe, he went on to have four marriages. In the 40s, 50s & 60s he became known with hits such as 'Hello Dolly' and 'It;s a Wonderful World'.
