The machines, driven by electricity, that reduce the thickness of the slivers of cotton..., 1909. 'In the frame-room, Brunswick Mill, Ancoats. The slivers, or rolls of cotton in the loose untwisted state in which they leave the carding-machines are reduced in thickness after they have been doubled by means of drawing-frames. The more often a sliver is doubled and elongated, the better should be the yarn spun from it.' Premises of Henry Bannerman and Sons, cotton spinners and manufacturers.
