The summit of the Grimsel Pass, Switzerland, c1955. View of reservoir for hydro-electric plant. The Grimselsee is an artificial lake with a volume of 95 million cubic metres (21 billion imperial gallons). The dam was completed in 1932 and is operated by the Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG (KWO) energy supply company. The Grimsel Pass is a mountain pass crossing the Bernese Alps at an elevation of 2,163 metres (7,096 feet). The pass connects the Haslital, the upper valley of the river Aare, with the upper valley of the Rhône.
