Topkapi Palace, Istanbul, Turkey, c1955. Tourists in the gardens and courtyards of the Seraglio Palace - the Iftar Kiosk and the Baghdad Pavilion with a view of the Golden Horn. The Topkapi is now a large museum and library. From the 1460s to the completion of Dolmabahçe Palace in 1853, it served as the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire, and was the main residence of its sultans.
