Inner Temple - King's Bench Walk, c1885. Carved stone doorway in the City of London. 'The...view shows the doorway of No.5, King's Bench Walk. It is the best of four in somewhat similar style, the others being plainer...They are very good examples of the cut and rubbed brickwork recommended for ornament by the authorities after the Great Fire (Noorthouck's History of London, Appendix XLIX., p.849). Lord Mansfield, when Mr Murray, occupied chambers in this house, which is the number five of Pope's Ode to Venus:- "To number five direct your doves, There spread round Murray all your blooming loves."'
