Photo from 'The Sphere' of female RA students working from life in the Sculptors' room at the Royal Academy Schools, c1925. Female students were not at first permitted to draw from 'life', ie nude models, on the grounds of moral propriety. It was not until 1893 that they were allowed to work from the male model.
