At the Feet of the Saviour!, 1887. Slaughter of the Jews in the Middle Ages: enraged mobs of Christians beheading Jews in the medieval city of Toledo. As is evident from the controversial nature of its subject matter, the painting and its author belong to the more liberal current of Spanish history painting. Cutanda chose this episode in order to denounce violence and injustice.
