Laundress of Scarpa (Papal States), 1864. Alternative title: Laundry. Portrait of a young washerwoman from Scarpa, a town near Rome located on the right bank of the Teverone River, a tributary of the Tiber. Dressed in the typical attire of Roman peasant women, she is hanging laundry on the fence of a farmyard. According to tradition, the model for the painting was found by Agrasot at Rome's Termini Station.
