A Braggart, 1880. The catalogue of the Paris Salon, where the painting was exhibited in 1880, described it with a fragment from the poem "Al túmulo del rey Felipe II en Sevilla" (To the Tomb of King Philip II in Seville) by Miguel de Cervantes: "Caló el chapeo, requirió la espada / miró al soslayo, fuése y no huvo nada" (He pulled down his hat, drew his sword / glanced sideways, left, and nothing came of it).
