The Adoration of the Magi, c1445. Panel of a polyptych with scenes from the life of the Virgin. In the foreground, Mary, veiled in white, holds the Christ child in her lap. Before him, with open hands, one of the Magi kneels in adoration. The second king presents his gift to Joseph. The third king, with African features, holds in his left hand the last gift, a round box in silver and gold with a bulbous dome-shaped lid.
