Louis XIII, King of France, 17th century. Louis XIII (1601-1643), King of France and Navarre, son and heir of Henry IV and Marie de' Medici, married Anne of Austria, daughter of King Philip III of Spain, in 1615. This is a replica of one of the portraits sent from Paris in 1655 by Anne of Austria to Madrid for her brother Philip IV, in order to prepare for the marriage of Louis XIV to Maria Theresa of Austria. It presents variations from the original by Philippe de Champaigne.
