So-called portrait of Charles Felix of Savoy, King of Sardinia, 1821. Carlo Felice Giuseppe Maria, Duke of Savoy, Piedmont, and Aosta, King of Sardinia from 1821 to 1831, was born in the Royal Palace of Turin on April 6, 1765, son of Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia and Maria Antonia of Bourbon, Infanta of Spain. He married Princess Maria Cristina of Bourbon, daughter of King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies and Archduchess Maria Carolina of Austria, by proxy in Palermo on March 7, 1807, a marriage ratified in Turin on April 6. He died without heirs in his native city on April 27, 1831. This miniature must date from 1821, during the first year of his reign, as among the honours with which he is depicted are the Order of the Annunziata, the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazzaro, the Order of Saint Gennaro, and the Order of Military and Civil Merit of Savoy.
