Alfonso IV the Monk, King of León, 1851. Imaginary portrait of King Alfonso IV de León (died 933), the son of King Ordoño II of León and Queen Elvira Menéndez. He was crowned in the year 926 and renounced the throne through the death of his wife, Queen Oneca of Pamplona. After his abdication he entered the monastery of Sahagún, but later attempted to recover the throne of Leo and his brother, Ramiro II of León.
