Dictatorship Offered to Cincinnatus, 1730. After military leader Cincinnatus retired from public service to a simple life of farming, he was summoned from his plough to assume complete control over the Roman state. After achieving a swift victory, he relinquished power and returned to his farm. One of the Ca' Dolfin Tiepolos, a series of ten oil paintings made c1726-1729 by Tiepolo for the main reception room or salone of the Palazzo Ca' Dolfin Manin in Venice. The paintings depict events from the history of Ancient Rome.
