Birds of Prey. The Will, 1876. Anti-clerical painting, (alternative title: 'God is Dead'), which created a scandal when it was first shown. Jesuit priests manipulate a dying man. Struys' personal experience, of Jesuits persuading his uncle to sign over his possessions, fuelled this portrayal.
