Mould for the Royal Academy President's Medal with relief bust of King George IV, c1820. One medal mould for dye electrotype 1930 and wax impression for the President's Medal from the original gold Presidential Medal, originally worn by the President of the Royal Academy of Arts, Sir Thomas Lawrence. The Latin inscription reads: Georgius IV dei Gratia Britanniarum Rex (George IV, by the Grace of God, King of the Britains). Lawrence (1769-1830), the leading British portrait painter of his generation, was elected President of the Royal Academy in 1820, holding the position until his death.
