Portrait of Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, 1822. Maria Pavlovna (1786-1859) was a grand duchess of Russia as the daughter of Paul I, Emperor of all the Russias and Empress Maria Feodorovna. She later became the Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach by her marriage to Charles Frederick of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Here she wears a striking red empire-line dress with train, and leans against a balustrade covered with a green velvet curtain.
