The Speaker's coronation coachman, London, c1953. Preparations for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953. The Speaker's State Coach, built in 1698, is the oldest of the state coaches of the United Kingdom. It was presented to the Speaker of the House of Commons in the early 18th century.
