Légende

Former National Congress Building, Santiago, (Santiago de Chile), Chile, 1883. It was the seat of the two chambers of the National Congress from 1876 to 1973. The plans for the building were drawn up by the French architect Claude-François Brunet Debaines, (1799-1855), and construction began in 1857 under the direction of Lucien Hénault (1823-1908). In 1860, construction was halted due to lack of resources. In 1870 its works were restarted by the Chilean engineer Manuel Aldunate (1815-1904). Finally the building was completed by the Italian architect Eusebio Chelli (1820-1890). It was inaugurated on June 1, 1876.
