Zumalacárregui confronted the Liberal troops under the command of Generals Manuel Lorenzo and Marcelino de Oraá. The Carlists finally had to retreat after running out of ammunition. . Civil war that confronted Carlists, supporters of the Infante Carlos María Isidro de Borbón, against the Isabelinos (Elizabethans), defenders of Isabel II and the regent María Cristina de Borbón.
