Feat of captain Manuel José Pineda, (January 1795), War of Roussillon, also called War of the Pyrenees or War of the Convention (1793-1795), 1851. Conflict between the Spain of Charles IV and the First French Republic. After the reorganisation of the Spanish troops by General Urrutia, Captain Pineda was ordered to surprise a reserve artillery park of the French army, in the Pla del Cotó, located between Bellegarde and Figueras, with a contingent of Catalan volunteers and 200 somatenes, he reached the rear of the French army, attacking it with bayonets.
