Viscount Cunningham of Hyndhope, Admiral of the Fleet, c1953. Andrew Cunningham (1883-1963) commanded the British Mediterranean Fleet during World War II. In 1943 he was appointed First Sea Lord. He was Lord High Steward at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. He is pictured wearing the robes of the Order of the Thistle, which he would wear at the coronation, in the Regalia Procession.
