The Bicycle in Germany: a ring-taking contest, 1898. 'In military displays on the Continent the bicycle is now taking a leading place. The sketch shows a ring-taking contest. The rings are suspended at irregular distances round the track, and the riders have to traverse the course from two to four times at a quick pace, the winner being the one who secures the greatest number of rings'.
