Various portraits, 1898. 'Admiral Sir Michael Culme-Seymour, Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth, has seen much service in Burma, China, and the Crimea. He is sixty-two years of age; Rear-Admiral Rice, Superintendent of Portsmouth Dockyard; Mr. H. Kimber, Mayor of Portsmouth; General Sir John Davis, Commanding Southern Division, Portsmouth; Professor William Ramsay, Professor of Chemistry, linguist, cyclist, and mountaineer, has added to his discovery of argon the discovery of crypton; the late Mr. Henry Lee, F.R.C.S., senior consulting surgeon at St. George's Hospital; The late Major-General Sir William George Davies, Bengal Army, Assistant Commissioner in the Punjab, Financial Commissioner; the late General Alexander Fraser, Indian Army, served through the campaign on the Sutlej, Punjab Campaign and in the Burmese War, Chief Engineer to the Public Works Department of the North-West Provinces, known in Burma as "The Star of India," for the numerous light houses erected under his direction on the Burmese and Indian coasts, occupied himself in later years with Indian railways'.
