'The late Mr. Philip Hermogenes Calderon, R.A., died at Burlington House on the day of the Academy banquet; the late Mr. Charles Green, R.I., an admirable draughtsman, [known for] illustrations to the works of Charles Dickens; the late Mr. Caleb Wright, one of a family of thirteen children, sent out to work in a factory when he was nine years old...manager of a cotton-mill, founder of the firm of spinners, Caleb Wright and Co.; the late Sir Frederick Acclom Milbank, Bart., member for the North Riding of Yorkshire; Brigadier-General Hector MacDonald...[participated in the] brilliant victory on the Atbara, Afghan War, Transvaal War of 1881; the late Second Lieutenant Paul Alexander Gore, Seaforth Highlanders, [killed] in the Battle of Atbara, Soudan Campaign; the late Rev. J. H. Rose, vicar of Clerkenwell, seized with a fit while attending a vestry meeting, and never rallied; Mr. George Robertson, Mayor of the city of St. John, whose object in this country is the development of St. John as the recognised winter port of Canada.
