Légende
The Royal Agricultural Society at Darlington: the new bridge, Darlington, 1895. 'St. Cuthbert's Church was founded in the eleventh century by William de Carilef, who then occupied the see of Durham. It is a fine structure, partly Norman and partly Early English in design. The central tower, with spire, is one hundred and eighty feet high. This ancient church was restored and enlarged by Sir Gilbert Scott, who commenced his work in 1862, and finished it three years later, at a total cost of £10,000. Let the visitor not fail to admire the carved stone stalls and splendid western door'. From "Illustrated London News", 1895.
