Eastwell Park: the Lake, 1895. 'A short walk up the rising ground northward from the house brings one to another wood, at whose foot there lies a lovely lake; a quiet place, alive, like all such solitudes, with a constant bustle of rooks cawing, wind rustling the leaves, sheep bleating, or deer, suddenly alarmed, hurrying by'. Eastwell Park, near Ashford in Kent, in England, was owned by the Earls of Winchilsea for more than three centuries. It was used as a royal residence from 1874 to 1893 for Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh. From "Illustrated London News", 1895.
