Légende
Nazario Eguía (Nazario de Eguía y Sáenz de Buruaga (1777-1865), Count of Casa Eguía, 1842. Spanish Carlist military officer. On 17 July 1835 he presented himself in Estella to the pretender Don Carlos, who appointed him viceroy of Navarre. Eguía was subsequently appointed General-in-Chief of the Basque-Navarre Army, replacing General González Moreno. In 1829, Eguía was the target of an assassination attempt when he received a document which exploded when he opened it, shattering his hand, which had to be amputated. In addition to his right hand, he lost some fingers on his left, so the king authorised him to use a stamp when signing documents. From "Panorama Español, Crónica Contemporánea", Madrid, 1842.
