Peninsular War (1818-1814): Second of May Uprising against French troops, Madrid, 1808, (1892). Defence of the Monteleón Artillery Park. The artillery captains Luis Daoiz and Pedro Velarde took up arms against the French. Both were killed during the French assault of the barracks. Illustration based on the painting by Sorolla.
