Siege of Gerona (Girona) (27 June to 10 September 1285), 1890. Acommplished by the French during the Crusade called by Pope Martin IV (1220-1285) against the Crown of Aragon, whose king was Peter III the Great (1240-1285), in retribution of his intervention in Sicily. Girona was defended by Ramon Folch VI of Cardona (1259-1320). As he did not receive reinforcements from King Peter III to break the siege, he had to surrender. The town was taken by Eustache Beaumarchais (ca. 1235-1294). After signing the capitulation, the troops of Ramon Folch VI of Cardona evacuated the city.
