The Princess meets the Frog by the Fountain - Illustration for 'The Frog Prince', c1874. The Frog Prince', a children's picture book published in 1874. In this fairy tale, a young Princess was one day playing with a golden ball by the side of a fountain, when it falls into the spring and is lost. The frog offers to retrieve the ball if the Princess will allow the frog to live with her.
